After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy visiting the main attractions of Cairo. Start your tour with a visit to one of the largest museums in the world. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the masterpieces of the Egyptian Museum. You will be captivated by the most famous and largest art collection in the world. Some artifacts date back over five millennia and are on display. The treasures found in King Tutankhamun’s tomb are the top attractions among the exhibits. Your private live guide will give you some free time to explore more of the museum, and you may choose to visit the royal mummy room (extra cost upon request).

It is true that Christianity in Egypt is as old as Christianity itself. Your private guide will explain the meaning of this phrase during your visit to the Coptic churches. Start with the Hanging Church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, one of the most beautiful and important churches in Cairo. Next, visit the Cavern Church, named so because beneath the church there is a cave where baby Jesus and the Virgin Mary hid for three months to escape King Herod. Go downstairs to see where baby Jesus used to sleep. This is one of 15 sites where the Holy Family stopped during their journey in Egypt, which lasted three and a half years. Next, visit the oldest synagogue in Egypt, the Ben Ezra Temple, dating back to the 9th century and open to tourists. Your Egyptologist will fully explain the history of all the sites on your tour.

Finally, visit the largest and oldest market in Cairo. Follow your Egyptologist’s steps while walking through the narrow alleys and lanes of the market. Feel the welcoming warmth of the locals while sitting with your guide and having a drink at the oldest coffee shop in Cairo (1710). Although the market used to be the best place for shopping and buying authentic Egyptian souvenirs, nowadays they are hard to find, but your guide will advise you on how to enjoy the experience. Ask your guide about bargaining techniques in the market for an interesting experience.
